“(Dasher) said to me, ‘Will you put me in a (poker) game? I play real good…So (Dasher) takes $300 because I said, ‘I’ll let you have $300 and we will split the winnings.’
“Well, he comes back 45 minutes later and said he played in a game in Murfreesboro and lost it. You got me? He lost it. L-O-S-T,” remarked Donnell.

Dasher apparently had nights where he won asmuch as $2,500, but repeatedly lost as the games piled up.

The NCAA is currently investigating into the situation.

“Information was reported to the university involving student-athlete Dwight Dasher,” remarked MTSU Athletics Director Chris Massaro. “… The university’s Judicial Affairs Office, Sun Belt Conference, and the NCAA [have] been informed of this information. … Since it is an ongoing inquiry, the institution is unable to comment further until it is concluded.”

The official allegation is that Dasher did not repay a “large sum of money … [he borrowed from] a patient at the VA Hospital [Alvin York VA Medical Center],” according to an incident report. The same report names Dasher the subject of “another ongoing investigation.”
