According to police reports, $15,000 in cash, electronics, and jewelery were taken in the heist. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

The report went on to say that when one of the players walked outside to smoke a cigarette, the gunmen forced said player back inside and effectuated the heist.

This is a common modus operandi of poker heists in recent home poker games

“When I go play poker with my buddies, I bring my Beretta,” began poker player Jim H. “I know a couple of the guys are uncomfortable with it, but the weak economy has led some people to desperation and crime.”

Police are currently investigating whether or not there is a connection between the robbers and the players. The thieves did see to know for certain, however, that there was a poker game worth a substantial amount of cash was taking place.
