The Alderney-licensed online bingo offering from PaddyPower.com has announced that will be giving away a total of £10,000 in cash this month through a series of special promotions.

John Pappas, the executive director of the Poker Players Alliance argued back by stating that poker companies would have to put 50 percent of their total operation in the United States.

“It’s pretty clear their only concern is that they (The Commerce Casinos) don’t want to compete.”

The latest report shows that 2009 gross gaming revenue totaled $26.5 billion, compared with $26.7 billion in 2008, numbers in stark contrast to the disastrous declines that are still being experienced in Nevada and Atlantic City land operations.

Oklahoma City regional tribal casinos enjoyed the best revenues, with a 12% increase across the 49 gaming operations in the area, which includes western Oklahoma and Texas.

In Portland native American gaming revenue grew 6%; increased by 1% in the Tulsa region, and climbed 0.1% in Washington D.C. The Tulsa region includes eastern Oklahoma and Kansas.

The Tulsa region’s 64 operations had $1.7 billion in revenue, and the Oklahoma City region reported $1.5 billion in revenue.

Individual states again saw much-needed boosts to their coffers thanks to gaming compacts with tribal operations. Oklahoma reportedly received $33.3 million from the Chickasaw Nation, $22.7 million from the Choctaw Nation and $12.2 million from the Cherokee Nation. In addition, the state got about $50 million in fees from other tribes.

CBC reports that the provincial government is “very interested” in the idea of online gambling, and quotes the Minister of Gaming, Ken Cheveldayoff, who revealed that the Saskatchewan Gaming Corp., is “cautiously looking at” doing the same thing in order to harvest revenues that would otherwise accrue to offshore online gambling operators.

If Saskatchewan decides to enter the market it will be joining regulatory efforts by other Canadian provinces such as British Columbia, Quebec, the Atlantic provinces and Ontario.

The province already operates two land casinos and owns thousands of video lottery terminals, and the MInister cautioned that Internet gambling would be “…harder to police, it’s harder to monitor, you don’t know who’s on the other end. We want to make sure it’s those that are above 18 years old and those that are responsible gamers that are taking advantage of it.”

Cheveldayoff emphasised that there’s no timeline for the Saskatchewan government’s decision.
