Monday, International Federation of Association Football subsidiary Early Warning System GmbH agreed to aid Lithuania’s national soccer federation in protecting its games from illegal gambling. It is the first such agreement since FIFA created the Zurich-based subsidiary in 2007 to curb match fixing and monitor suspicious gambling patterns. In a bid to tighten up on suspicious Internet sportsbetting on major football games, Lithuania has signed up with a company created with the help of FIFA to help it monitor suspicious betting patterns and improve precautions against corrupt practices.
